2021 Toyota Sienna vs. 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Overview

When shopping for a minivan, drivers have a few competitive choices, each with their own personality. Let's look at two contenders in the minivan segment: the 2021 Toyota Sienna and the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica.

Body Style and Space

Both of these minivans are stylish inside and out, and their external design makes them distinct from each other. Each vehicle has an appealing body design and details, but we think the Sienna manages a sportier, more assertive look, while the Pacifica is less eye-catching. Most drivers and critics also agree that the Sienna's body style allows its cabin to feel more open, even with adults in all eight seats.

Efficiency

The 2021 Toyota Sienna is only offered as a hybrid. This model offers better fuel efficiency than its hybrid electric and gasoline-powered Pacifica counterparts. When comparing the Sienna and the Pacifica, drivers who care about both performance and fuel economy, especially those intending to keep their minivan for a long time, should pick the Sienna.

Entertainment and Utility

Minivans are mostly for big families, and if you have kids, you need every possible convenience. Both models include an in-vehicle vacuum cleaner for messes, but the Toyota Sienna has 18 cupholders. Compare this number to the Pacifica's paltry 13. The Sienna also offers an in-car cooler for drinks and cold snacks.

Both models offer rear-seat entertainment systems and the latest infotainment tech. However, the 2021 Toyota Sienna has an 11.2-inch 1080p screen for the rear system, whereas the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica features two 10.2-inch screens mounted on the back of the front seats. Those who want a larger, higher-quality screen should go with the Sienna.

Safety

Both vehicles have very good safety ratings and a wide array of safety features for safety and driver assistance. Plenty of driver aids and automatic guidance systems come standard with both minivans, with more advanced gear available on higher trims and packages.

All that said, the 2021 Toyota Sienna leads with more safety features standard when compared to the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, and it received five stars from the IIHS in front crash prevention tests. So far, the 2021 Pacifica hasn't been rated for that test.

The choice of a new vehicle depends on personal preferences and circumstances. Still, considering Toyota's strong reputation and the advantages of the Sienna over the Pacifica for 2021, drivers seeking a new minivan are more likely to enjoy the Sienna.
